INVESTIGATIONS
This year I worked on the largest investigation WAVY aired. Months of reporting from a tip to a full blown exposé led one of our anchors, the investigative producer, and I to dig through court documents, obituaries, and comment sections piecing together the story. It ended with a sit down conversation with the acting fire chief and chief of police.
The investigation additionally revealed that state officials claimed the incident we investigated was not reported to them. FOIAed emails revealed, that was not true.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
2024 was a major election year and my first year in the industry, meaning meant I had to learn on my feet and adapt quickly. Every election cycle WAVY creates candidate profiles, to be the one-stop shop for viewers to know what they need to know for elections. I worked with our managing editor of digital content and one of our investigative reporters to compile more than 300 candidate profiles.

ABC: Shooting led to liquor restrictions at West Beach Tavern – Jul 11, 2023
One of my assignments during my internship was digging through documents to reveal the narrative of what led up to a bar owner being arrested. Information from search warrant affidavits, documents from the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, and a source I had cultivated revealed the VABCA placed restrictions on the bar after a shooting outside months prior. The repeated violations of those restrictions led to her arrest.
Buckling down on safety: What parents need to know about car seats – Aug 7, 2023
My capstone project for my internship was pitching and producing a targeted special report. In the weeks prior to my special report the station covered several crashes involving infants, one where the baby was the sole survivor. I looked into how properly installed car seats impact the outcomes of crashes like these.
